Important Information

ALL ACCOMODATION AND TRAVELLING HAVE TO BE BOOKED AND PAID DIRECTLY AT THE CORRESPONDING TRAVEL AGENCY

Clothes:

With daily temperatures up to -20 °C and lower it is obvious to wear appropriate clothing. The Hotel Nordkalotten has a number of overalls who can be lend to the participants. These overalls are primarily used for snow scooter driving and that´s why they are very warm and can stand the bitter cold. Even a number of boots who are lined with fur are available for the participants.

Driving in Norrbotten / Lappland:

Winter tyres are an absolut must!
The engine and transmission oil has to stand temperatures up to 30°C !
The cooling system should be filled with cooling water that is mixed with 50% glycol and 50% water
The battery and the ignition system have to be in a perfect condition!
Carburettor spirit should be added to each refuelling in order to avoid that any water in the petrol can freeze.
The washer fluid should be mixed with an anitfreeze suitable up to 30°C .
You have to take a number of bulbs and fan belts with you.
A blanket for each passenger should be available in case you get in trouble.
If your car has an engine heater: don´t forget the cable! A socket is available in every Swedish hotel.

Driving on snow and ice:

oncoming trafficwhirls up snow that makes driving quite difficult for a short while. Please reduce speed in that moment and keep the distance !
Avoid jerky steering movements!
Particularly with temperatures near the freezing point the snowy road will be very slippery!
Don´t park your car too close to the edge of the road. The ditches are often cleared of snow.
